The Dodgers’ sputtering offense should get a lift this week as the rival San Francisco Giants come to town. Betts, out since April 4 with a strained oblique, is slated to return from the injured list and land in the No. 2 or No. 3 spot in the order. Who will win Giants vs. Dodgers today: Dodgers moneyline (-177)
The Dodgers have missed Betts’ presence near the top of the order. Shohei Ohtani is hitting .241 and has struck out more times (four) than he has collected hits (two) in the last series, with one homer in the last 22 games. The top half of the lineup has struggled, and Betts’ return should allow everyone to return to their normal spots in the batting order.
The Giants took two of three from L.A. last month but are 5-10 since. They traded MLB’s top defensive catcher this season in what looks like a reset. The lineup has scored fewer than two runs four times in the last nine games.
