Thunder vs. Lakers Game 4: Can Los Angeles Keep Its Season Alive?

L.A. is down 3-0 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Lakers are pegged as a double-digit underdog for Monday night’s Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. LeBron James’ club is without Luka Doncic (hamstring), and the team has run out of gas in the second halves of back-to-back games after holding the lead at halftime. On the Oklahoma City side, Jalen Williams (hamstring) has been ruled out for a sixth straight game. The Thunder are 7-0 against the Lakers this season, including the regular campaign, with six of those wins by at least 18 points. Given that streak and a 23-point victory in Game 3, it’s unsurprising to see OKC favored by double digits on the road.

OKC sits as the title favorite at -175, and it has controlled this series even with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander not fully delivering on the scoring front. LeBron James and the Lakers managed a surprising upset of Houston in the first round without Doncic, but this setup may be too steep a climb for L.A. Now, let’s break down the odds, a player prop to consider, and my take for Game 4 on Monday night.

BEST BET: LeBron James UNDER 37.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists (-124)

LeBron has put together an impressive playoff run at 41 years old, averaging 23.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game while shooting over 46 percent from the field. However, in this series, the Thunder have held him to under 37.5 points, rebounds and assists in three straight games. So, I’m taking the UNDER in Game 4. If the Lakers fall behind again in the second half, it’s hard to picture J.J. Redick risking James or Austin Reaves’ health in a series that’s already tilted against L.A. What’s more, LeBron has combined for 37, 31 and 33 points/rebounds/assists in his three games in this series, despite playing over 36 minutes in each outing. There’s always a chance James turns back the clock for a vintage performance to keep the season alive, but after two straight games of shooting at or above 50 percent, he went 7-for-19 in Game 3. This line feels a touch high as OKC closes out the series on Monday.
